Be a hip cat, be a ship’s cat.

Once again, I mislead you a little. No cat. But the reason for the obscure lyric (can you name the track?) is that it comes from an album called Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which is an old album from, of course, Pink Floyd.  Gates of Dawn has a really ancient feel to it as well, even though it is actually only from 1522, and is a religious monument in Lithuania. So this blog is about old things, not cats at all. Sorry.

When you think of the Jurassic coast, most English people think of Durdle Door and the Dorset coast, but Yorkshire also has a Jurassic coast.  The area around Scarborough and Filey is rich with fossils and complex geology. This can lead to some amazing textures and colours

The walk out along the coastline at low tide, towards Filey Brigg is quite long and very slippery.  I managed all the way there, and to within 10 yards of safety on the way back without mishap.  Then I slipped! Not too painful, just a little embarrassing, and at least the camera was not hurt.

Continuing the theme of old, Scarborough castle is an imposing monument on the headland between North and South bays

Owned by English Heritage, the castle and the views from the castle are magnificent

So, it has been a while since the last post, but I will really really really try to get another one out more quickly.

Promise.
